Jamee D: I am passionate about creating a more sustainable future: environmentally, economically and socially. My passions began at a young age. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to "nature" every summer on camping trips to the backcountry of provincial parks around Ontario and grew to love the peace, beauty and colours of the natural world. But growing up in the suburbs of Toronto, I recognized the waste of resources going into the typical suburban lifestyle. Watching the destruction of forests and farmland for "cookie cutter" subdivisions, along with my love and appreciation of the natural world, led me onto the path of sustainable development. Though my environmental education started young, I was formally educated at McMaster University (BSc in Earth and Environmental Sciences) and then I received my Masters degree in Sciences through the University of Waterloo. After academia, I took a 5 month certificate program through Fleming College (Peterborough, ON) entitled "Sustainable Building Design and Construction", which served to open my eyes to the amazing possibilities in existence for us to change the way we do things in order to make a huge environmental and social impact.
